An Al Balad magazine article asserted that "the Muslim Brotherhood propaganda machine has been targeting Professor Walid Phares and other US experts on Foreign Policy and organizing smear campaigns in the Arab media for a while."
The Egyptian based publication said "Ikhwan and Qatar funded media have been trolling Phares comments and assessments on Libya and Tunisia and organizing media campaigns to undermine his efforts to support a US-civil societies partnership against Jihadism and extremism."
Al Balad added that Ikhwan-Qatar funded web sites such as "Confidential" based in Spain lately posted a false report that Professor Phares provided an advice to the King of Morocco to reach out to the Trump Administration, though according to Spanish based 'Confidential' the Monarch didn't obtain a meeting. Al Balad exposed the site and the Ikhwan as concocting false allegations as Phares has never been in contact with Morocco in anyway.
Al Balad argued that the propaganda campaign aims at obstructing the rise of strategic relations between Morocco and the US.
