In an interview with Fox News Dr Walid Phares said: "The Islamic State war crime against the Jordanian pilot, may become a psychological turning point for Jordan and other Arab Sunni moderates, but the turn will be gradual and still is in need for a strong and strategic US leadership"

Phares said "Jordan is now mobilized against the Islamic State, and soon a bloc of Arab Sunni moderates is emerging with Saudi Arabia,UAE, Bahrain, Egypt and others, to rise against the Jihadists at large, not just ISIS." Asked about the position of the US Administration, Phares said, "yes it may increase its air sorties against ISIS positions, here and there, but the Obama Administration so far, doesn't want to get out of the status quo. It may change, but we don't see the signs yet."

Asked if ISIS knows that no major action is coming out of Washington, Phares said "both the Islamic State and the Iranian regime know that the Administration isn't on the offensive against them. They know they have two years, thus they are expanding and becoming more aggressive."
