In an interview with al Arabiya TV show titled "Sina'at al Maout" (factories of death)Dr Walid Phares said: "The Iranian regime is blocking the United States from intervening with international forces against ISIS, on the ground and from using the resources of the Gulf to defeat the network in Syria and Iraq."

In an interview with al Arabiya TV show titled "Sina'at al Maout" (factories of death)Dr Walid Phares said: "The Iranian regime is blocking the United States from intervening with international forces against ISIS, on the ground and from using the resources of the Gulf to defeat the network in Syria and Iraq."
In his comprehensive interview Dr Phares argued that "it is not in the strategic interest of the Iranian regime to allow the US, Western or international forces, or even Arab forces to defeat ISIS in the Sunni areas of Iraq and Syria, because these areas will be transferred to local government authorities not under the control of Iran. Such a campaign involving Arab armies would cut off Iran from Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon. In short Iran is blocking the US from succeeding against Daesh"
