In an interview with Liz McDonald on Fox Business Channel, Dr Walid Phares said "as far as we can see, there is a Perestroika under way in Saudi Arabia. Prince Mohamed bin Salman (MBS) has already pushed back against the extremists, liberalized some areas for women and youth, and weakened the religious police. MBS is now addressing the financial challenge by reforming the system to centralize the economic decisions in the Kingdom instead of allowing the multi-polar financial reality to continue to impede reforms."
Phares added that "Mohamed Bin Salman and Saudi reforms are going through a dangerous tunnel, while Iran is pounding the country from the south and possibly via terror.
