In an interview with Fox News, Dr Walid Phares author of "The Lost Spring" said "Kobani has now become a Stalingrad for the Kurds, but also for the Islamic State. If Kobani falls to the Jihadists, they will move West along the Turkish Syrian borders and invade more towns including Kurdish sites. Then they would move to the East and invade a large free enclave with Kurdish and Christian communities, and also Oil. Kobani has to fall for the Islamic State forces to accomplish their greater goals in Syria." Phares added "but for the Kurds Kobani is their Stalingrad where they decided to draw a line in the sand and stop the Jihadi invasion." Phares said "US arms supplies to Kobani are good, as good as morphine in a battle to maintain the lines as they are. Turkey allowing Peshmergha to enter Kobani from Northern Iraq is also good, as good as vitamins. But the real strategic counter offensive didn't begin yet. Ankara has some demands, not met yet. As for Baghdad, the battle has started with IS coming closer, but the real game changer will be Jihadists surging from inside Baghdad's Sunni areas."
