In an interview with Fox News, Dr Walid Phares said "Turkey is targeted by at least two networks, one is ISIS and the other are the Marxist radicals among Kurds (PKK)."

Commenting on the terror attack in Istanbul which left dozens of Turks and international tourists dead and wounded, Phares said "the attack was sophisticated and presumed careful planning." He added "Turkey is involved in Syria's conflict, thus one would project that several factions frustrated with the latest Turkish Russian cease fire agreement, may find interest in striking on its national soil."
